Career Insights & Advancement
This panel discussion is intended specifically for mid-career healthcare leaders who want to accelerate or expand their professional growth, seeking practical, sound and effective insights to break through lagging movement.
This panel session will include senior executive Fellows from a diverse spectrum of leadership journeys (clinical, administrative), healthcare settings (ambulatory, hospital, home) and levels within those settings (tactical vs. strategic). Going further, they bring experience from diverse healthcare systems, including nonprofit integrated care such as Kaiser Permanente; the government-based Military Health System; and a market-based, fee-for-service hospital system in Hawaii Pacific Health. Their combined experience will provide this panel with a unique opportunity to help mid-careerists accelerate career progression in today’s ever-evolving healthcare landscape. More specifically, participants will gain valuable perspectives on overcoming the unique challenges that hinder mid-career advancement.
Panelists will have structured conversations on how to navigate organizational cultures with diverse developmental options, balance technical know-how with personal relationship soft skills, and optimize networking with a quality (rather than quantity) focus. Additional key topics include inducing self-reflection and self-awareness under a competency and capability mindset, enabling the self-identification of personal and systemic roadblocks impacting professional development. This discussion will also explore how interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative thinking, curiosity and a continuous learning mindset will boost professional growth. At the end of this event, participants will receive practical tools to support career growth, do’s and don’ts in interviews, and individualized communication techniques. Participants will be encouraged to engage actively and participate with eagerness and curiosity.
The question-and-answer session aims not only to address specific inquiries, but also to inspire, motivate and equip healthcare professionals on their personal path to reignite and elevate their career journeys with actionable advice. Given that a large majority of Congress attendees are “mid-careerists,” followed by early careerists, this panel will help address networking and professional development needs of members who often join Congress resume reviews and career discussions.
