Anesthesiologists play a pivotal role in the perioperative setting by integrating clinical expertise with program oversight to ensure safe, efficient and appropriately utilized anesthesia care. Integrated into the entire perioperative continuum, they manage anesthesia delivery and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to adapt to dynamic intraoperative conditions while ensuring patient safety. Their nontechnical proficiency in the areas of situational awareness, risk management and system-level problem-solving enable them to guide complex workflows and mitigate clinical deterioration, promoting positive patient outcomes and experience.
