Workforce Cultivation
Last Congress we spoke about the process of succession: Do you have plans in place to make certain that a leader knows it’s time to step down, understand their role in selecting a successor, determine who is involved and how the decision for a replacement is made, review internal candidates and encourage key internal folks to stay on board, ensure transparency and engage key internal and external stakeholders?
Now, a leader has been selected—but have you planned for a successful transition for this new individual? If not, are you prepared for the fallout?
Once hired, will this new leader appreciate key elements of your mission, values and culture? Can they create buy-in for a vision that is on target? Have you developed proactive plans to acclimate them and their family to their new role, the community and the greater environment? Have you created a roadmap for them to help them be successful?
Our panel will review best practices that have made succession successful as well as share a few case studies—or, one might say, “horror stories.”
