Erika J. Rohan is an accomplished nurse executive and behavioral health leader with more than 30 years of multifaceted experience spanning acute care, emergency medicine, neuroscience, education, and psychiatric services. She currently serves as Project Chief Nursing Officer for Acadia Healthcare, where she provides strategic leadership, develops nursing executives across the system, and ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered behavioral health care across Acadia’s acute hospitals and joint ventures.
Throughout her career, Erika has been recognized for driving measurable improvements in patient outcomes, workforce engagement, and operational efficiency. As Chief Nursing Officer at Ascension Saint Thomas Behavioral Health Hospital in Nashville, she implemented innovative outcome measurement tools, significantly reduced restraint and seclusion rates, expanded service offerings such as ECT, and successfully rebuilt a nursing workforce—reducing contract labor costs by more than 98% within a year. Her leadership fostered a culture of compassion, accountability, and clinical excellence, leading to dramatic gains in patient experience and staff retention.
Previously, Erika held senior leadership roles at TriStar Skyline and Skyline Madison Behavioral Health, where she directed nursing and behavioral health programs across adult, adolescent, and geriatric psychiatric units. Earlier in her career, she advanced through progressive leadership positions in emergency and neuroscience services, while also serving as adjunct nursing faculty at Austin Peay State University, where she mentored the next generation of nurses.
Erika’s educational background reflects her commitment to both clinical expertise and organizational leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Austin Peay State University, a Master of Public Health in Health Services Administration and Planning and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii. She is board certified in psychiatric mental health nursing, a graduate of the HCA Leadership Academy, and a board-ready member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Known for her collaborative leadership style and ability to unify teams around shared goals, Erika has played a pivotal role in improving survey readiness, advancing patient safety, and strengthening community trust in behavioral health services. A respected mentor and coach, she continues to guide nurse leaders in building sustainable, high-performing teams that balance quality care delivery with financial stewardship.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Erika has been an active member of her community, serving on the board of King’s Daughters and supporting various health and education initiatives.
