Dr. Juan A. Sanchez serves as Chief Academic Officer at HCA Healthcare, where he oversees GME accreditation, medical education, research, and strategic academic partnerships. As a physician executive, he is dedicated to enhancing health system performance by embedding high-value care principles into medical education, advancing clinical quality and effectiveness.
A nationally recognized thought leader in patient safety and systems science, Dr. Sanchez is a frequent lecturer and the editor of Surgical Patient Care: Improving Safety, Quality, and Value (Springer) and the Handbook of Perioperative and Procedural Patient Safety (Elsevier). He was a founding member of the National Board of Medical Examiners’ Patient Safety Taskforce. He also serves as Affiliate Professor of Health Systems Science at the Frist College of Medicine in Nashville, TN.
