Dr. White is an Assistant Professor and Chaplaincy Faculty Researcher within the Department of Patient Counseling, College of Health Professions, at Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA). As a health services researcher, her research focuses on the integration of spiritual care providers (chaplains) within healthcare delivery systems and their impact on healthcare access and quality. Dr. White received her PhD in Public Health Sciences, concentration in Health Management and Systems Sciences, as well as a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation Sciences from the University of Louisville. She completed her theological degree, a Master of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in New York, New York. Her Bachelor of Arts degree was awarded from Transylvania University (Lexington, KY) after majoring in Religion and minoring in Mathematics.
Dr. White is the author of over 20 peer-reviewed publications about professional spiritual care and co-edited Evidence-based Healthcare Chaplaincy: A Research Reader. She is a board-certified chaplain and member of the Association of Professional Chaplains. She is among the first cohort of Transforming Chaplaincy Research Fellows, and the current Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Health Care Chaplaincy.
