Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)
Donato Cipriano is the leader of NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst Human Resources Department. Donato oversees all of the Hospital’s initiatives related to Human Resources, including recruitment, compliance, compensation, employee engagement, and evaluation of the workforce. Donato was elevated to his current role of Chief Human Resources Officer at Elmhurst Hospital in January 2025. He joined NYC Health + Hospitals in 2018 as Assistant Personnel Director for both Elmhurst & Queens Hospitals and was subsequently promoted to Deputy Director for HR Operations in 2021 and Director of Human Resources in 2023 before becoming CHRO.
Donato is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, dedicated to developing talent, and passionate about leveraging data and technology to modernize operations. A strategic thinker with comprehensive expertise in the field of Human Resources, Donato has a proven track record of partnering with stakeholders at all levels to successfully lead teams through organizational change. Donato’s Human Resources career spans over twenty years and has included senior-level management roles for nationally recognized Human Services, Higher Education, and Healthcare organizations.
Donato earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Long Island University and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University. Additionally, he holds Human Resources certifications from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).
