Dr. Maia Carter is a board-certified internal medicine physician and leadership coach to
clinicians. She is renowned for her transparency, relatability, and visionary approach to leadership.
She specializes in helping frontline clinicians become influential leaders without burning out or losing their clinical edge. Her
coaching offers a personalized approach to transform overwhelmed clinicians into strategic
powerhouses, equipped to lead with vision, authenticity, and purpose. As a leader in the federal
sector, she practices primary care outpatient medicine and works as a national director
implementing and expanding virtual tools. Prior to that she was responsible for operationalizing
several Federal outpatient primary care clinics in Las Vegas, Nevada. With over a decade of experience leading healthcare
teams, developing physician executives, and mentoring early-career physicians, Dr. Carter
brings warmth, clarity, and strategic thinking to every stage she graces. She has spoken for a
variety of groups and professional associations, such as Ronald Mc Donald House Charites
(RMHC), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the American College of
Physicians (ACP). She holds an MD and MPH from The George Washington University and
completed her BS in Physiology from Michigan State University. She completed a preventive
cardiology fellowship at Saint Luke’s hospital in Kansas City, Missouri immediately following her
Internal Medicine training. She has achieved the fellow credential with the American College of
Healthcare Executives. Medical career highlights include serving as 2024 president of Nevada’s ACHE chapter, and service
chair of the Red Shoe Society, a philanthropic organization that supports Ronald McDonald
House Charities (RMHC). She is the proud mother and enjoys Chicago style step dancing and circuit training.
