As senior vice-president and chief academic officer at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare, Robin Womeodu, MD, FACHE leads the office of medical education and academic affairs and serves as the program director for the Internal Medicine residency program. Prior to transitioning to this role, she served as the chief medical officer for Methodist University Hospital for 17 years. Her leadership roles have focused on building interdisciplinary teams to address patient safety, improve experience outcomes and implement systemic changes that complement population health strategies. Dr. Womeodu is a staunch advocate for medical education learners along the full continuum, advocating for optimizing clinical learning environments that welcome and support learners from diverse backgrounds to reach their full potential. Her professional priorities have centered on promoting high-reliability systems of care that prioritize patient safety. Her career long interest and expertise in addressing health and health care disparities, and related social determinants of health was informed by National Health Service Corps service in Mississippi Delta. Board certified in Internal Medicine, she earned her doctorate in Medicine from Washington University, St. Louis, and completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh.
