System Vice President of Advanced Practice, Acute Care Operations

As a dual board certified Adult and Acute care nurse practitioner, Dr. Margaret Cecil serves as the CommonSpirit Health System Vice President of Advanced Practice for Acute Care Operations. She has responsibility for advanced practice workforce leadership and optimization across more than 140 hospitals in 24 states. She champions this work through new programs and synergistic partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure the delivery of optimized clinical care. She has a passion for leadership development and has published work on this topic in the Journal of Hospital Medicine. Her operationally driven mindset and fidelity to core values provide the ability for Margaret to lead large teams, create a clear sense of vision and purpose, and understand the detail needed to bring the vision into reality.
She earned her BSN at the University of Texas at Austin, her MSN as an Adult Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, a post-masters as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the University of Colorado, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Executive Healthcare Leadership from Vanderbilt University.
Margaret lives in Colorado with her husband and daughters. When she’s not working she is outside skiing, hiking, and occasionally getting injured while mountain biking.
